Uniform civil code

Ashima Singh , Exploring Oct, 27 2016

I'm disagreeing assuming that you're pro-uniform civil code. I think it would take away the fundamental freedom to pursue diverse religious practices that any diverse religion would entail. Though I might not agree with the following, but a majority of the rural class in India associates their identity with that of the religion they follow. Taking away their practices would be, in a way, taking a chunk of their identity away from them.

The thing which is stable is this -triple talak,,,even democratic muslims country abolished it, we are secular why not we??22 Muslim MAJORITY even pakistan ,bangladesh....abolished it...?

Vikram Gupta , Exploring, learning, believing Oct, 27 2016

But these countries haven't done it because of uniform civil code. Agreed that triple talaq needs to be done away with, but it needs to come from within the Muslim community in India. Not a blanket reform which takes away their right to decide for themselves.

Vedansh Anand , LEGAL EAGLE Oct, 27 2016

Yes very true,,,uniform civil code is the need for SECULAR nation,,,and TRIPLE TALAK is the need of DEMOCRATIC NATION,,,,their is a thin line differrence between thses two....and very suprisingly INDIA IS BOTH DEMOCRATIC ANS SECULAR

This requires a good discussion.

We live in times where Muslims are insecure and the sense of victimization is rife. This can be pointed to (as always) poverty, the blind faith in the self proclaimed religious authorities and long standing political mind games that have conditioned the large poor masses to believe they're being targeted for their religion. The current crop of uneducated, and unemployed youth, irrespective of religious affiliation, will listen to anyone who gives them attention and a fruitless goal in an idle life.

I've been accused of being anti Muslim by people (who obviously don't know me personally) when I ask them to follow basic civil code and wait in a queue or not create a ruckus anywhere.
