Place to discuss about Islam

The perception of human being in Qur'an is of the best creation which is imperfect at the same time. Isn't this a bit confusing?

I am starting a discussion for the first time here so forgive my ignorance but I want to discuss something. After some research, I was unable to find a clear answer. How are human beings perceived in the Qur'an? Are we considered the best creation of Allah (some books and articles pointed to this) or are we imperfect as a species? Or are we the the best creation that happens to be imperfect at the same time? Could any of you please provide some passages so I can read them first hand. Again, my apologies about this elementary question.

Thankyou for inviting Shehnavaz sahab.

I worte this sometime back, and will reiterate:

We are preferred on all the other creations, but we aren't perfect in our worship to Allah like the angels, but those who believe in Allah and do good deeds are the best of the creation!

In the Qur'an Allah says وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ (1) وَطُورِ سِينِينَ (2) وَهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ (3) لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ (4) (1)By the fig and the olive (2) And [by] Mount Sinai (3) And [by] this secure city [Makkah], (4) We have certainly created man in the best of stature;

And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference. 17:70

Can we reach out to a Islamic scholar who could enlighten us on this with reference to the key passages in the book ? The power of Aware is that if we as a user community can learn even as we try to find answers for the seeker.

We are the most beautiful creation as indicated in Surah Teen. Those humans who overcome their desires and implement their free will and intellect in the best way possible (i.e. submitting to God) are the best of creation, better than the angels who do not struggle with desires. Those humans who neglect their intellect and instead submit to their own desires are lesser than animals who fulfill their pleasures and have minimal intellect (meaning they're not held accountable like we are).

Allah says in the Qur'an (Surah Hujuraat): Verily the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing/pious one.

I have another question. Through an Islamic narrative, are human beings bound for imperfection? i.e. is it the nature of humanity to make mistakes? Or is this not the perspective of Islam? Do we do things as intended by Allah, or are we creatures who will misunderstand his ways and will do things imperfectly? If you feel that you already answered this, please let me know.

We vary in intellect and intuition, plus God constantly reminds people to repent and to remember Him throughout the Quran. If we were truly perfect in all aspects, we wouldn't need this constant reminder. People were placed on different 'platforms', i.e. unequal opportunities if you will, so that they "race to do good deeds".

It's a complex question with a complex answer. Human beings are meant to strive towards perfection. In other words, we are meant to fulfill the commandments of Allah to the absolute best of our abilities. However, we were created with "imperfections" such as anger, jealousy, carnal desires, laziness, etc. that we must struggle with in our journey towards perfection. The Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said something to the effect, "All the sons of Adam are sinners, and the best of the sinners are the repenters." Hopefully that helps somewhat.

Yes, I agree that human beings are best creation but they are incomplete till they realize this very fact and have control over their desires and surrender to God. Human beings as such are imperfect until they realize their real purpose like Picasso, Krishna, Muhammad or Steve Jobs.
