Demonetisation and Cashless sure are welcome steps, however they wont eradicate/stop corruption at all

Corruption can never end in India, because our policy makes have too much discretionary power and a lot of thing they do are never known to us. Thus corruption will always be there in a country like India. This is not unique to India, the only non corrupt countries are western oriented individualist liberal secular societies who know how to channelize self interest of human beings to form correct policies. This is why most citizens of such corrupt collectivist societies wish to rush to western countries and become citizens there.

Is GDP a true indicator of growth or does it reflect development?

GDP failed in providing clear picture about development which can be substantiated as it doesn't ensures equality in growth. It might be enhanced due to inflation or concentration of money in few results in inequality rather welfare. GDP ignores crucial components like women household chores which is crucial for people to survive and doesn't include externalities like environment pollution which affects quality of life. It doesnt even depend on outcomes rather inputs like such as how much money spends on health but not on life expectancy. Considering this international agencies propounded HDI,GDI,GII like indices to reveal crucial development features of the country in terms of education, health, gender equality where India always on median categories despite higher growth rates of 7-8% .Bhutan govt developed GNH which measures happiness of its people as true development.

Denigrating a people's culture, depriving them of their language, turning their children against their heritage, stealing their land and depriving them of their means of survival has been recognised in other contexts as tantamount to genocide and yet we are still doing it to the Adivasis.

People in Aleppo are being massacred, are we sure the fight is against ISIS?

Syria's army said it had taken 98 percent of the territory once held by opposition fighters in east Aleppo, however couldn't there be a better way to solve this?

The UN estimates that nearly 500,000 people have been killed since the Syrian conflict began in March 2011, and more than half the population has been displaced.

Every time we thought it couldn’t get worse, it did. And now, again, the horror is plumbing new depths. Families are running out of food, of water, of medicine. There are no more operational hospitals and not a single ambulance to rescue the ever-growing number of wounded and sick. In this city of death, even the clowns are dying. The man who tried to block out the horror by entertaining the children, distracting them for a moment, was killed. Was this the death of hope?

Is Air pollution also a forgotten problem now? What is being done to control it?

What are the main reasons for the increase in Air pollution and how can we solve this problem of air pollution?

Fine particulate matter that is less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter has been linked to up to 16,200 premature deaths (and a staggering six million asthma attacks) per year in Delhi alone. There are reports that one of every four children in the Indian capital suffers from a serious lung disorder.

U.N. General Assembly passes Japan-led nuclear abolition motion! Will this make all the nuclear powers disarm their nuclear weapons? But whats the proof that they will?

Nuclear weapons programmes divert public funds from health care, education, disaster relief and other vital services. The nine nuclear-armed nations spend in excess of US$105 billion each year maintaining and modernizing their nuclear arsenals. The US alone spends more than US$60 billion annually, and the British government’s plans to replace its ageing fleet of nuclear-armed Trident submarines could cost taxpayers over £100 billion.

Despite renewed commitments by nations to achieve a nuclear-weapon-free world, all of the nuclear powers continue to invest exorbitant sums of money in their nuclear forces. Funding allocated to national disarmament efforts is minuscule by comparison, and the principal UN body responsible for advancing nuclear abolition has an annual budget of just over $10 million. It is time to redirect money towards meeting human needs.

The Government was likely forced to undertake this step based on the tepid response to their voluntary income disclosure scheme. As you would be aware, money does not equal cash. Therefore by my reckoning, eventually the demonetization would only uncover ~1-2% of the total stash of black money.

Post the demonetization, it now appears that the government will re-introduce the voluntary income disclosure scheme. I do agree that the idea has merit as a 'good cop, bad cop' tactic. My gut feel is that rather than black money, what this does affect immediately is the supply of fake currency in the system. This was a growing menace which has been temporarily stopped in its tracks. Again, I use the word 'temporarily' because it appears that there are no new security features in the new bank notes.

Pebble watches, the biggest success of crowdfunding shuts down. What does this mean for crowdfunding platforms?

According to Crunchbase, Pebble had raised $15.38M since being founded back in 2009, with a large chunk of its funding coming via the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform.

Pebble winding down is, inevitably, a high-profile disappointment for crowdfunding — whose platforms hold out the promise of a leg up for small innovators, yet have fewer solutions for longer term business sustainability in the face of more powerful market forces.

Does this mean crowdfunding just like crowd is getting stupider?

Unless and until weed out such things from our culture we cannot be called liberated from such psychological colonisation. We should be proud of ourselves whatever we are. skin does not determines the value of a person, the resourcefulness is determined by the brain of the person. Unfortunately in india untouchability and caste divide is being practiced from millennials. its the worst form of racism. untouchability being abolished from the law books is still followed in some rural areas. caste divide is still the focal point in elections. even the mightiest of indian leaders were very apprehensive of abolishing the caste system altogether.

All Hail Americas confused NeoLiberalism!

The statistics say a lot of people from both parties stayed home. The Democratic Party leadership has been neglecting the decay of its middle and lower classes for years; that's nothing new. The Republican Party has long since gone off rationality in pursuing religious fanatics and racists. Clinton was not a very good candidate, and neither were Trump's opponents in the Republican Party, so that gave an opening to the semifascist Trump. Hopefully, Trump will be fought to a standstill. We will still have to address the problems that produced his success. There is no reason for people to change their feelings and values, but they are going to have to get smarter about what's going on.

Can setting up KPIs for government teachers improve the standard of government schools?

Its a nice thought but the problem with KPI is its mostly objective and thus depends on your seniors and thus its hard to monitor.

This might lead to the same cycle as everything else since things will be dependant once again on people working in the government. Rather the brighter minds can be encouraged to take up teaching as a profession. Teaching needs to be an attractive career choice for talented individuals, rather than the last resort for students, who find no other job openings. The government needs to introduce better recruitment and training programs for the teachers, who need to be well acquainted with student psychology. Teachers also need the freedom to develop their own courses for education of the students, with less interference from the government.
