I just came to my notice that Qatar had an ongoing modern day slavery till December 13! Shouldn't UN intervene in such matters?

This system has been a matter of debate for a decade now. Human Rights organizations have criticised the very concept of Kafala system , where workers are denied of basic facilities , dignified working conditions and adequate payments. In 2009, Bahrain claimed to repeal Kafala system. Recently Qatar abolished the system in order to bring up a new contract based law ensuring greater flexibility and labour protection.

The Human Rights Watch had labelled labour conditions in Qatar as those of slaves. Without sponsor's permission, workers aren't allowed to leave the country and not even get a driving license or rent a home. The new law that comes out ensures workers rights are respected , though in order to return home, employer's consent will still be required. Workers will be given the right to change jobs.

The need for international organisations is to keep a close watch that workers don't only enjoy freedom to change jobs, but also continue to get paid fully, adequate living conditions are provided to them, so that new law, doesn't become a revised version of Kafala system.

The School Bag gets heavier, are we planting the seeds to a stressful society?

Say for nursery and secondary school, should kids have locker facilities in schools to reduce the amount of weight they carry around? If they have these locker obviously their going to need to bring home books to do homework but they would only bring the books they need for that specific homework only. After all, it will eventually be a problem in the future with back injuries and its going to cost a lot of money.

What should be done to curtail China's aggressive expansion?

Can India grow its ties with Russia maybe, to intimidate China?

Pakistan will be a good replacement of India for Russia to sell its defence equipment. They will be willing to buy all the arms that Russia can produce. Russia just needs to subsidise the entire 100% amount of its arms sales by providing a grant to Pakistan.

Russia will also soon become a member of PRICS as Brazil & India exit BRICS. India will join the larger NATO & Indo-Pacific Alliance including US-Europe-Japan-Australia-India. This new alliance will give it access to the most advanced markets & technology as it races to become the 3rd largest economy by 2040.

Can the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act of 2016 create an impact unlike demonetisation?

Tell me one law which was passed without being opposed from opposition, Had BJP been in the opposition they wouldnt have let all these acts come into place themselves. ho

Modi has been called a dictator because of his Demonetisation move, But was it even constitutional?

Supreme court must discharge its constitutional obligation of upholding the rule of law - without fear or favour. Personality driven, egotistic, impulsive and megalomaniacal decisions done by the executive which are contrary to law must be repudiated strongly. The Indian constitution has a systems of checks and balances and time for the SC to play its constitutional part and uphold interests of the people. It should at least ask the government to lay in public domain, what were the factors behind the decision, what benefits were expected in the form of a sworn affidavit and then that affidavit will be used to judge the intent and success of this scheme.

India has 290 rivers and 205 of them are critical, working on them can solve our draught and groundwater problems forever

"There is almost no reservoir in the country that provides the intended cost-benefit ratio of 66%, and only a handful of irrigation projects have used water efficiently. Sometimes the only reason behind the initiation of such projects is just for the sake of construction," Shashi Shekhar, secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development

70% of India's rivers - the lifeblood of human civilisation - are in a critical condition, as per a river assessment survey conducted by various representatives from across the states, including professors, academics and environment experts.

Their top personnel are all IPS officers, who don't have security of tenure..moreover it not a statutory body as it has been notified under DSPE by MHA. If its autonomy has to be ensured. There is a need first for a statute which will clearly demarcate its role, responsibilities, jurisdiction and also its own cadre of officers. Recruitment exam should be designed so as to choose persons of highest desired values. It should be made just like CAG. Only accountable to parliament.  But to curb it from assuming draconian powers, a system of C&B needs to be put in, which can be mentioned in the statute itself. Plus there should be performance assessment at regular intervals at all levels of hierarchy.

What should be Governments next step with the excess black money it gets its hands on?

The move is basically to curb the black money outfits but also it would lead to filling the coffers of the bank and thus will help in maintaining the capital adequacy rat

This is definitely a huge boost to government's and RBI's accounts but it also adds a huge responsibility on these authorities. Having money does not mean that government should not worry about private investment or FDI. Also, too lavish spending on government procedures or subsidies should also be kept in check. An investor friendly environment has to be made so that these deposits are taken up as credit. This would maintain the profitability of banks. Too much deposits means less liquidity. The authorities need to strike a balance between the two. Passing on the benefits of this move to banks and general public by keeping macroeconomic interests in check.

Guess whos showing his true colours these days

When everyone stood against him, me and my friends volunteered for AAP and went all the way for the cause only to now realise he is best friends with Didi.

Its truly a sad state for Delhi, having him as our CM has put my faith in politics in a dilemma yet again, no one is honest and those who pretend to be saints are fake!

PM Modi advertising for Paytm is a way to show a new direction for payments in India, why is it shameful?

Modi is endorsing Paytm and there is nothing wrong with that. With the current much needed crisis, there is a need to show an alternate way for payments and going cashless needs to be promoted. Like almost everyone else, Hail Modi

What to do with increasing addiction to distractions. TV shows..Net surfing..Facebook..WhatsApp.. And alot of attractions

It need not be a distraction if taken in a positive way.

Excessive wastage of time can be controlled and we can actually use these TV shows and internet surfing for our own benefit. Connect with people, watch interesting and knowledgeable shows is the key!

What do you think?
