NGO's and rest of civil society have been handling the stigma of 'Gay' Men in a wrong way

Abhinav had posted

Very true. Moreover, there's more of a social stigma associated with gay men rather than lesbians. Another downside of patriarchy maybe?

I'm not against documentation of history. In fact documentation gives us a clearer picture of the ideas, and impressions.

The best of care is being taken to preserve history in our country and in the world, but somethings are out of our control and history can be destroyed. We can either cry about it, or ensure the true ideas never get lost in the process of physical destruction.

Should India embrace the expelled artists or was it right in expelling them?

I do agree that artistic expression, is important in a democracy, but expelling Pakistani actors and artists from India has nothing to do with them personally, or against art. It is more of a symbolic stand against Pakistan than anything else. Given the long-standing nature of conflict between our countries, I'd say that India has been especially tolerant towards artists from Pakistan, India didn't ban any of their actors before this, nor did we especially ban any of their movies from screening in India (can the same be said for them?) but the recent terror attacks were the proverbial last straw, where we couldn't pretend that everything was fine between our countries anymore.

Conflict resolution, through art or anything else, is a two-way process. They should be willing to reciprocate our good will, but it hasn't been so. Many Bollywood movies continue to be banned in Pakistan till date.
