Only 14% of IIT students termed "Employable"

During last evening's lecture Prof. Dinesh Singh- Redefining Education: Enabling India - AwareMonk it was pointed out that only 14% of the IIT students can be called "employable". With such a meager percentage in the most prestigious colleges in India, one can't help but wonder how dismal the situation really is in other colleges of the country.

I think that is because of increase in the number of IITs in India, but if you look at still the same standard 5 top IITs the %'age will be lot better. It is because the denominator increased and ratio has fallen. Its a simple math.

Problem lies in improving the quality of the set of children we focus on, not by reducing the sample size.

Is lack of employability because of attitude or skills ?

Because of the screwed up system in which the child has to stay for around 20 years.
