Limits of humor. Who draws the line?

Tannishtha Chatterjee wrote a big post which was shared widely on social media. Comedy nights roast turned into a racist as per Tannishtha.

If we were to take offence on jokes, Carlin would have been anti-national, racist, blasphemous, and many other things. Who draws the line of control?

"A comedian should know the line between humor and offence and should cross that line deliberately." - George Carlin.

At a time when the India is swamped with thoughts of going all out against Pakistan or even worse, nuking Pakistan and erasing its presence from the world map, it is safe to say India has always been intolerant towards humor. Be it the outburst after AIB Roast or Kiku Sharda's arrest for mimicking some qausi-bear baba or the latest, the cancellation of a AisiTaisiDemocracy Sex Education gig. Humor or Comedy is the mirror of any society, it intends to show the prejudices and prevalent taboos of a society. It intends to change the society, intends progress of a society. And perhaps India always goes gaga over any kind of comedy is because, We, Indians are hesitant towards change. I haven't watched the show yet, I don't know what were the jokes, but what I do know is Tannishtha went to show on her willingness. She never gave a list of her sensitive zones and asked the comics to not joke about them. The comedians had all the rights to crack jokes of their choice. The jokes were their choice just like going to the show was Tannishtha's choice. Tannistha doesn't deserve our time. Tannistha doesn't all these discussions. What deserves the churning of our mind or discussions and debates is how does one change India's perception of humor or sex comedy or insult comedy ?! How does one make India more tolerant towards jokes on religion ?! How does one make India change India's sex education policy ?! I started with a quote of the great man and will end it his quote.

"There are nights when the wolves are silent, it the moon who howls."

We are a society still fighting for beefban, or believing in gaumutra as a cure for diseases. How do you expect them to understand the kind of videos Mohsin posted, or carlin or Louis CK humor for that matter.

I know an incident when a guy in gurgaon smashed the standup comedian after the show because the poor standup made fun this gurgaon guy during the show.

We might take a whole generation to become a civilized crowd.

And see the Hippocratic society we are, I know people who are against Tannishtha's roast but laughed their asses off in AIB roast, and created ruckus on Kiku Sharda's arrest. Why? because Tannishtha sounds more outgoing girl who takes offence.

Society is not mature enough to understand Carlin completely
