Is justdial on a irreversible slide to the bottom ?

Justdial is an amazing story of persistence and bottom up innovation ( Make in India way ) but has it been disrupted by the twin march of technology and capital. On the one hand, models like olx and quikr, who are not really being judged by profitability at this stage of their evolution, and the on the other hand, the clear threat to the small businesses gravitating towards the tech biggies like google and Facebook for their needs.

Are investors judging just dial by the wrong metrics of profit and revenue ? forcing them to expand sales operations with an undifferentiated product which is rapidly slipping.

Do you also feel that Justdials future unless they do something drastic might end up like Nokia?

Nokia too at a point in time was the biggest player in mobiles (just like Justdial in listings) but now there are a lot of other players who are doing exactly what Just dial was but being more specific (Zomato has ratings, Urban Clap lets you order people). Unless a huge innovation comes up it will be an inevitable end.

Not a complete disagreement as in the case of Nokia the other players were actual business and made money, In the case of Justdial how many are actually profitable? Most of them are just burning cash and will die eventually.

This being said, the need of instant pivot is required. I dont remember the last time i used justdial

In your statement is the bitter irony of the startup ecosystem in India. justdial is built brick by brick with sales focus and frugal boot-strapping over years ( as is the only way if one has to build something ). And then it gets into serious money, and is hyped up way above the capacity of the Indian market to monetize such a model. Much of the hype is because of the investors need to create a quick valuation jump. The market responds for a while and the tiger starts biting as profit growth in the real market cant keep pace with the virtual valuation growth metrics.

The same valuation spike is used by multiple other startups ( some with more advanced products as they are starting later ) to raise loads of money to pamper customers and buy usage growth. These startups are not even measured by revenue, forget profit. Obviously they all lose money, but do take a lot of consumer interest away from just dial thus hitting its revenue model too.

This is the irony, where all models are bound to hit a dead end.

I just checked Justdials site, they have made UI/UX changes, however a lot more is needed. But its not like the guys at JD are oblivious to this. I am sure there must a lot going on there.

It would be great if someone can call anyone of them/ If someone can let me know how to do that
