Indelible Ink When You Exchange Notes, Just Like When You Vote

Discussing its feasibility.

I would appreciate this ink system if it's used to process un-inked people on priority first and allow inked people only after the un-inked queue is cleared. For checking weekly exchange limit, they can perhaps stick to the ID proof system.

Those who have not exchanged anything yet should be given a preference over those who are coming for repeat exchanges!

How exactly is it supposed to work? Is a person supposed to withdraw 4500 only once? Is the ink going to fade exactly in a week? If someone fades the ink using something how are the banks going to know that he withdrew last week or yesterday?

This whole thing is a poorly implemented. They could have easily made a central online database for keeping records. And they could have made a limit on withdrawal per ID.

Easier said than done. We are talking about an application to be accessible over the web, to all bank employees (ONLY), training these employees to use the application, providing them with infrastructure. Also, lot of exchanges are happening at post offices which are technically not even equipped to handle huge amounts of cash, let alone a computer device. One of the post offices' union that I know of had written to PMO citing exactly this:

1.)who will provide security because they will be dealing with high loads of cash. There are no armed guards, cctvs etc.

2.)There are no counting machines, calculators available to them, unlike in banks

3.)who will perform the normal post office duties if they will be doing this?

4.)what about the compensation for this extra duty.

Don't know if they received a response.

Oh don't worry. They thought about the repercussions. They just didn't care.

Modi's name has now become synonymous with the crackdown on cash hoarders. PR exercise successful. Let the citizens deal with the aftermath.
