Germany is reacting to the attacks with calm

Germany’s dark history has taught it not to over-react. Sceptics used to reply that talk was cheap coming from Germany, which had been spared major incidents of the sort that have struck America, France, Turkey and other countries. That changed in the space of one week this month, when Germany suffered four very different attacks. Despite the four incidents taking place in quick succession, there has been no groundswell of support for a crackdown by the secret services. For the time being, the debate in Germany on the appropriate domestic response is far removed from that in France, where the state of emergency is the “new normal”.

Germany has been spared large scale terrorists attacks which killed 3 thousand like 9/11 and other terrorist attacks like in France & Belgium which causes mass casualties. One wonders what the reaction among German people would be if they experienced a terrorist attack that killed thousands or hundreds & hundreds of people? After the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, Germany became a police state for Arabs living in Germany. Hundreds of innocent Arabs were dragged from their homes in mid-night raids and taken to police stations. Back in 1972 there would have still been ex-Nazi police officers and we all know how they would have behaved dont we? God help those poor Arabs who were unfortunate enough to share the same ethnicity as the Arab Palestinian terrorists. German governments over-reaction and disregard for democratic rules after the Munich Olympics massacre was censored by the German media, so I doubt if Germans know about it but the mid-night raids on Arabs living in Germany was exposed by the New York times back in the 1970s. Likewise now the German media has swept under the carpet the human rights abuses happening right now in Frances almost permanent state of emergency which allows the state to arrest people indefinitely without charging them with any crime, search premises without any warrant, and spy on their own citizens phones & internet traffic without any parliamentary oversight.

Politicians may demonstrate determination by sending thousands of policemen or even soldiers to patrol critical spots in the metropolitan area. May be the right thing to do if you are politically weakened like M. Hollande. However, will it serve to really deter such attacks from sleeper terrorists? Only well co-ordinated, efficient and effective intelligence that works under the surface can bring results. Germany is in the focus of IS and salafist terrorists for years while a few cells had been dismantled already before they did harm. Some relevant comments by Gandhi: 1. “You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” 2. “Nobody can hurt me without my permission.” 3. “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” & “An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

Calm on the surface but make no mistake, its boiling underneath it. There is a wide-spread realisation that Merkels naive and ill-advised open-door policy has completely failed and represents the single-greatest threat to the stability and future of the country and Europe. The majority of Germans feel significantly more threatened today than they did one or two years ago - and rightly so. The reality, which isnt reported in the mainstream media, is that - beyond terror attacks - on a day to day basis, Germans are under attack from illegal immigrants that swept into the country as a result of the total lack of control over who is entering. This ranges from verbal to physical sexual assaults and harassment, including of children, to violent crime, robberies and break ins. The law and the people of Germany arent respected by a large number of those people who were let into the country out of good faith. At the same time, German authorities fail to apply the full force of the law and dont reject and throw out those who have no right to stay or commit crimes. The result? The law and those who represent it arent taken serious. The German government is failing the German people. There is an ongoing, wrong sense of tolerance towards those who arent tolerant towards Germany, Europe and the values we believe in - and who will never want to be integrated into our societies. It is naive to believe otherwise. The reality is that integration of people who have completely different values and traditions into open Western societies doesnt and never will work - those who dont want to integrate need to leave, its that simple. If it doesnt happen German wont stay calm for much longer. Merkel will probably pay the price in next years elections.

I am very impressed by German leadership in times of crisis. The tough yet pragmatic decision to welcome refugees, your ability to maintain this policy during sad events that remain isolated yet generate bad publicity, the cautious, humble economic leadership of the EU since 2008,the public resilience and political restraint after attacks

The world would be better off with no borders. Let anyone who wants to live anywhere they choose. If we did that we could eliminate absolute poverty within a generation, severe malnutrition would no longer be a problem. Any poor person can go to a rich country and live better. The worlds wealth could be shared more equitably, not locking out poor desperate people on arbitrary country borders. Of course these people get no benefits, so they would only go if there were jobs available. Obviously it means living standards in rich countries take a massive hit. But its the right thing for the world, and 90% of the world would be better off.

Germans should take the lead against Islamic terrorism. While it is too early, but the time is coming for Germany to dump NATO and start militarisation for protecting Human Civilisation from disaster by 21 st century Nazis, the Islamists. The World order of 1945 and the Security therein is not viable in 2016. The new global Security apparatus must include Germany, Japan, India and Saudi Arabia otherwise we are heading for demolition of Peace. Europe has little demographic depth and will be overwhelmed by Islamists in a matter of few decades starting with France. France is a true dhimmi to the core and will surrender without fight just as it did in 1940. Germany, take charge, the time of reckoning is coming. This will be a chance to bury the shame of holocaust which has taken away your moral authority.

By continuing to pursue the politically correct line that all immigrants are equally beneficial, which is a studious and politically-correct lie of the worst and obvious proportions, they usher in forces which will studiously ply the same intentional obfuscation in service to the reverse case, that all immigrants are equally bad, and to nationalist and ethnic notions of purity and so forth. This will have terrible consequences for all those immigrants who do enrich a country. There is good diversity and bad diversity and to the common man such analytical distinctions come naturally -- that is if they are not so damn obvious that they are taken as a priori truths. But to the authorial voices of the Economist, clearly an aggregation of people who have been educated beyond their common sense, or indeed there intelligence, there are, as the saying goes, none so blind as those who will not see. This newspaper is part of the problem of an elitism across the Western world alienated from the common man and woman, and completely unhinged from their genuine concerns. Elitists preaching from a bubble. It is this kind of elitism which produces idiot shit-stirrers like Trump and the corrupt Clinton machine -- and yes, in converse ways, it produces both. Trump is mining this discontent though he is the last person who should - being the narcissistic reality TV star that he is. Thanks Economist. Great contribution to times of our world. Wrong call on the Euro, wrong call on Brexit, wrong call on immigration. Do you never stop and say, whoa boys, we are getting a bit too much wrong here. Is there something wrong with our intellectual first gear?
