Demonetisation and Cashless sure are welcome steps, however they wont eradicate/stop corruption at all

If digital transactions could curb corruption and black money , Kenya would have be en the most transparent co untry in the world. About 75% of the adult population in Kenya uses mobile phones for payments and money transfer. However, Kenya was listed as one of the world's most corrupt countries in Transparency International's 2015 Corruption Perception Index, ranking 139 out of 168.

It is clear demonetisation can't stop corruption. The government should strike at the mechanism that is responsible for corruption and generates black money . Similarly, digital transactions can't stop corruption. And demonetisation is not a way to promote mobile payments.

Corruption can never end in India, because our policy makes have too much discretionary power and a lot of thing they do are never known to us. Thus corruption will always be there in a country like India. This is not unique to India, the only non corrupt countries are western oriented individualist liberal secular societies who know how to channelize self interest of human beings to form correct policies. This is why most citizens of such corrupt collectivist societies wish to rush to western countries and become citizens there.

We need to create a fear for being in trouble, breaking the laws. Lok Pal could be one institute which could prevent recklessness and irresponsibility. As of now the penalties prescribed if caught for breaking a law is so minimal, hardly any person is motivated to follow them. Traffic Violation is the best example. The fines prescribed for drunk driving is less than 15 dollars whereas in US it is in 1000s of $. Its so much that u either are stuck in the jail or loose everything and thus there is a fear. Make it exemplary high so that people start behaving. It succeeded in Hong Kong then why not in India

The main aim and object of the Govt was to make the opposition bankrupt to fight in the upcoming elections in all the 5 states. To make this demonetisation a success they are threatening more stringent measures along with amnesty schemes to come out with bruises only. They want a way out of the nightmare. Daily data of a hundred crore detected hides the fact that the amount spent directly or incurred indirectly exceed Rs.2500crores every working day. They want a way out. They are more interested to finish off the opposition by other means than politically. The trust reposed by the ordinary citizen is being spent at great speed. Backlash is around the corner. Benefits of this disaster shall go the new Govt formed in 2 years time.

Digitisation will ensure all transactions take place through banking system. Thereby transaction data is recorded and visible to relevant authorities. This ensures ease of enforcement. Nothing eliminates corruption other than people giving up their greed. Lok pal is meant only to deal with government officials corruption. Digitisation will help uncover private sector corruption. For example, can a private university ask you to pay hefty capitation fee through banking system with a receipt? If they do and you report it, then will be caught. Thats the whole idea. Same holds for real estate, drug pedlars and terror funding. Can terrorists receive money into their bank accounts through any other digital means? Please try to understand how digitisation is necessary along with the upcoming GST implementation.

The digital India project needs much better infrastructure like mobile connectivity to the last panchayat, but no one cares about it as long as they can get cash to transact all the time. Now whatever way it is implemented, demonetisation is an opportunity as well as a challenge to get the things done immediately.
